Overview:

Guests once again have the ability to drive their own personal vehicle through the 350-acre safari, with over 1,200 animals from 70 different species in an open-air military vehicle.  They can see animals that are playing, giving birth, growing up, and even animals that are extinct in the wild. They will never make the same trip twice!  Guests experience a once-in-a-lifetime memory, and you can too by joining the Six Flags Great Adventure Safari Team as a Seasonal Safari Supervisor.  Responsibilities include overseeing aspects of the drive-thru experience, including daily operation, knowing how to operate the gates, who each animal is, maintaining records of staff progression, running lunch breaks, assisting guests and communicating with safari wardens. We will once again be offering guided educational tours on our off-road military trucks and a new upgraded experience called Giraffe Encounter Tour that will also be under your supervision.


Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise gate guard, tour guide and driver staffs.
  • Familiar with Safari Off-Road Adventure truck protocols and Driver Handbook
  • Familiar with the Safari Off-Road Adventure Guidebook and able to identify all species in the safari park
  • Familiar with the Safari Drive thru Handbook. 
  • Able to properly communicate on the radio
  • Work closely and cooperatively with team members of other departments including Auto Shop, Electronics and Rides Department
  • Help run Safari Programs (Education Days, Giraffe Encounter Tour.)
  • Become rides certified and assist with achieving throughput goals.
  • Work closely with the Safari supervisors and the wardens to better the guest experience
  • Implement guest service programs, and continually follow up with staff regarding them
  • Continually monitor the cleanliness of all areas
  • Ensure the safety of all team members and guests
  • Ensure that all team members are following department and park protocols
  • Develop a well-trained and efficient staff
  • Make decisions regarding team member training and disciplinary actions with guidance from management
  • Identify areas for continued improvement; develop and implement strategies to enhance these areas
  • Adhere to all Six Flags and departmental policies at all times.
  • Be able to navigate the safari including dirt roads, traffic and animals safely from a park vehicle.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more.
  • Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, crouch, or climb.
  • Must work holidays and weekends. Applicants must have at least one weekend day availability. Open weekend availability preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Individuals must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Must be comfortable speaking in small groups and large crowds; public speaking experience preferred.
