Overview:

The Manager of Public Relations will be responsible for executing dynamic and park-focused public relations strategies for the assigned properties within the region and will serve as a link between strategy and execution. This role involves securing media coverage, managing relationships with journalists and influencers, drafting compelling press materials, developing media kits and content, and organizing promotional events.

Reports to: Director of Public Relations – West

Location: Six Flags Over Texas

Park Focus: Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor Arlington and other properties as assigned


Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee execution of public relations strategies to support enterprise initiatives and promote regional parks, focusing on improving awareness, managing reputation and enhancing each park's image to drive attendance and revenue. Emphasis will be placed on SFOT with support to other properties.
  • Create news releases, media alerts, media kits, content and other materials to generate media interest and coverage, including managing photo/video shoots, supporting PR initiatives as needed.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with media contacts, influencers, and stakeholders to secure positive media coverage.
  • Conduct media outreach efforts, including pitching proactive story ideas and managing interview requests.
  • Help team organize and manage press events and community outreach initiatives for assigned parks, including managing donations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment with overall PR strategies.
  • Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders including but not limited to intellectual properties, tourism boards, EMS, government.
  • Manage media monitoring, data analysis and reporting for key programs and initiatives.
  • Manage crisis communication efforts.
  • Synergize with PR peers to develop and execute best practices and ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Assist with content capture as needed to support the Social Media & Digital content team.
  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Social Media and Sales, and provide hands-on field support in assigned parks and others when needed. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with Field Marketing and park teams to successfully execute programs.
  • Problem solve, pivot and embrace fast-paced change within division and organization.
  • Office-based position. Travel when needed (up to 25%) to provide on-site support for events, media campaigns, crisis communication and more.
  • Manage part time/seasonal help on site or remotely, when needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, communications, journalism or media relations.
  • Strong media relations and crisis communication skills.
  • Experience in media pitching and relationship building.
  • Projects high energy and maintains a positive attitude.
  • Strong problem solver and flexible with change.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and inclusive collaboration.
  • Ability to balance big-picture thinking with managing day-to-day tasks and details.
